Overview

The Paper Menagerie #3: On Equal Grounds presents paper as a material that flattens hierarchy, bringing together three generations of Indonesian artists, alongside painters, sculptors, collectives, and art researchers, to showcase a menagerie of paper compositions on equal ground. To resist fixed definitions, paper becomes a space where multiple artistic disciplines can coexist.

Instead of viewing paper as a medium of limitation, the exhibition positions it as a catalyst for possibility, dissolving the boundaries between fixed classifications that have shaped our understanding of artistic practices within the Indonesian contemporary art scene. Paper thus becomes a space where these boundaries grow porous, enabling disciplines to overlap, generations to encounter one another, and new relationships to emerge. ‘Paper Menagerie #3: On Equal Grounds' invites viewers to imagine a space that continues to grow and evolve, expanding the possibilities of contemporary art in Indonesia and inspiring ongoing dialogue and innovation.
