ISA Art Gallery is proud to present twenty three artists from the region and beyond at Art Jakarta 2026. The presentation brings together A. D. Pirous, A. Sebastianus, Aiman, Allyson Jeong, Arahmaiani, Ardi Gunawan, Ardi Gunawan, Chintia Kirana, Dabi Arnasa, Etza Meisyara, Galih Adika, Hadassah Emmerich, Ida Lawrence, Ines Katamso, Jeremy Sharma, Jumaadi, Luh’De Gita, Marisa R Ng, Sillyndris, Sinta Tantra, Tara Kasenda, Yosefa Aulia, Yuki Nakayama, and Zikry Rediansyah.
This year, ISA Art Gallery presents 'Invisible Cities: Worlds Within Worlds'. Drawing from Italo Calvino’s Invisible Cities and Martin Heidegger’s proposition that “to be a work means to set up a world,” the exhibition positions art not as a passive reflection of reality, but as a living atlas of imaginative landscapes.
Through Nelson Goodman’s concept of “worldmaking,” the presentation explores how artists take fragments of the realities they inhabit and reconstruct them into alternative ways of seeing, feeling, and navigating our shared struggles.
Moving beyond physical geography, the exhibition unfolds through three interconnected thematic journeys: Memory, Desire, and Signs. Here, artworks function as self-contained realms. Where memories are reassembled, heterotopic desires collapse the real and imagined, and the hidden systems that structure our existence are laid bare. To navigate these worlds is not to leave our reality behind, but to encounter it anew from elsewhere.
