The Room is Bigger Than It Looks, a duo show by Dabi Arnasa and Zikry Rediansyah, explores the complexities of the Anthropocene through introspective and absurdist lenses. Dabi, a Balinese artist based in Yogyakarta, brings a meditative sensitivity to the relationship between humans and the natural world. Meanwhile, Bandung-based artist Zikry captures the surreal humor and quiet unease of daily life through painting and performance. Together, they depict tension. They remind us that no matter how much we try to impose order, we remain slightly out of sync with the world.
The Paper Menagerie features 20 artists who utilize paper as vessels of memory, resistance, and identity. Inspired by Ken Liu’s short story, the exhibition reflects on cultural loss and inheritance through every fiber, layer, and fold. With the first edition shown in Jakarta and now in Yogyakarta, the exhibition stresses on the ephemeral, yet enduring character of paper.

ISA ARTIST ON THE MOVE
IDA LAWRENCE
TAUBENABERGLAUBEN Curated by Nikolas Claussen
Raum für drastische Maßnahmen, Germany 18th July — 2nd August 2025
Opening on July 18th 2025, 7 PM
In 1948 the American psychologist B.F. Skinner published “‘Superstition’ in the pigeon”, a paper detailing his avian experiments. Skinner had placed hungry pigeons in cages and fed them via a mechanical door at fixed time intervals. He observed 75% of the birds repeated behaviours that coincided with the first appearances of the feeder: spinning in circles, head thrusting, head tossing, swinging motions, or pecking. They had come to believe — mistakenly — that their actions could trigger the food.
At Raum für drastische Maßnahmen (ENG: Room for Drastic Measures), Ida Lawrence offers painted stories of appetite, desire and attempts at making meaning.
If the exhibition space is the cage, who then is the pigeon?

Currently, the ideas and themes of her works continue to move towards her current concerns or interests, namely the digital world, discourses about from identity, hyper-reality, and popular culture to mental health. |
ARAHMAIANI
EDSU HouseDrawing dan K3RTA5:Merayakan Kejujuran GarisTuesdays– Sundays | 10 AM – 7 PM5th July — 3rd August 2025
Drawing dan K3RTA5: Celebrating the Honesty of the Line features Arahmaiani’s pivotal work 1998. The exhibition is based on the notion of drawing as an honest, historic, and powerful medium for expression.
“In the beginning it was a line on paper. The lines can either stop being themselves, or become the basis for the creation of the next work. But for every person, not just artists, everything starts with a line. The line that settles at the bottom of the self. Lines that stand at the crossroads of various directions of artistic exploration. The lines that form the upstream and downstream of each artist's practice.”
