Tara Kasenda Indonesian, b. 1990
Tara Kasenda earned her Bachelor's degree in painting from the Institute of Technology Bandung (ITB) in 2013 and later obtained a Master of Fine Arts in Transdisciplinary New Media from Paris College of Art in 2019. Her artistic practice spans oil painting, installation, prints, sculpture, and new media, all of which capture the essence of contemporary life while maintaining a foundation in traditional painting techniques. With soft pastel hues and a dream-like quality, Kasenda's works explore themes of identity, perception, and memory, creating a balance between ambiguity and comfort that engages viewers in contemplative reflection.
Research is central to Kasenda’s creative process. She meticulously collects data and delves into the history and theories of color, using her findings to shape the interplay between beauty and chaos, the defined and undefined, and reality and dreams. Her work, which guides the audience into a contemplative space, has been exhibited across Southeast Asia and Europe, with notable solo exhibitions, including one at Art Taipei in 2015. Currently based in Paris, Kasenda's contributions to contemporary art were recognized in 2019 when she was named one of Forbes Indonesia’s 30 under 30.
