This drawing extends from the logic of Trace Track Scratch Splat, even though no animals appear within it. The techniques reiterate the painting, marks that feel instinctive, restless, and on the edge of becoming something else. Lawrence likens these drawings to specimens pinned for observation, much like catching butterflies and fixing them in place. They hold traces of movement but are momentarily stilled, allowing us to examine the marks as evidence of an animalistic energy without ever depicting the animal itself.
