This piece comes from a sketch Lawrence made before working with filmmaker Monika Proba, capturing a moment in her practice just prior to the development of Hoarse Horse. It holds early installation ideas, loose thoughts for the video, and a small inventory of horse-related references in Indonesia: Jatilan, Kuda Lumping, Andong. At the same time, it reflects her dive into peribahasa (proverbs and sayings) and the ways animals circulate through language, metaphor, and shared imagination. The work occupies an ambiguous space: part sketch, part note, part document. It maps a thinking process in motion, preserving the branching paths of thinking that shaped the work to come.
