4231 brings together two things that were never meant to be a match: a dragon ornament Lawrence once noticed on a door, and a stray fragment of text that seemed to drift over from the pandemic era. Their combination is unresolved. Together they create a small friction, an image and a phrase that refuse to explain each other. She is interested in how viewers negotiate that gap, what stories they stitch between elements that share a frame but not a history, and how meaning forms when context is missing, mismatched, or simply invented.
