An Indonesian artist and weaver, Alexander Sebastianus Hartanto's work combines traditional art forms such as batik with mediums like photography and sculpture. He draws upon ethnographic research, which examines how people relate to their environments. Hartanto graduated with a bachelor's degree from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, and briefly worked as a barista in New York City before pursuing art full-time.
