The work explores root systems and mycelium as natural connectors between all living species in the soil. I see them as symbols of how we could connect with one another beyond gender or race. In this Anthropocene, where intolerance and isolation are increasingly present, these underground networks remind us of balance and interdependence. Beneath the surface, the mycelium reaches out to different species, creating a shared ecosystem built on communication and exchange.
The artwork reflects this idea through forms drawn from microscopic observations of grass roots, hand-printed with Indonesian soil pigments and inspired by Balinese / Javanese animistic figures.
