In this work, I’m interested in the push and pull comedy between different textures—fluid, smooth areas against rough, thick, almost cake-like surfaces. One flows into another, sometimes clashing, sometimes pushing against each other until unexpected folds start to form. In some parts, the surface is lifted, creating a slight protrusion, so the painting begins to move away from being just an image. It sits somewhere in between—a painting that wants to become an object, and at the same time an object that still pretends to be a pictorial image.
