"Flores Vitae, a series that Nico Dharmajungen worked on during
These ten years (1990 - 2000) show not only abilities
visualization and photographic techniques only. But these images
are also a spill of his life story. For those who follow
Nico's career path, previous work Iron Age Archeology and
America in Black & White, this series feels different. In this series
Nico explores to find his character, apart from
the shadows of the teachers and all their theories. He found himself
romantic, melancholic and contemplative in this exploration.
There is nothing instant and coincidental in these images. Process
pre-production starts from background drawing, cross-process technique
and camera movements are measured, and all recorded on film
Large Format (4x5) and 35mm. These flowers are no longer objects
sweet and beautiful cliché; she becomes sensual, passionate,
mellow, perverts, dark, sad, like the color of life."
