an abstract exploration that depicts vibrant, bold shapes and colors set against a vivid blue background. The artwork is characterized by its use of large, interlocking forms in hues of pink, orange, green, and yellow. These forms, which appear to be abstracted or stylized characters or symbols, create a sense of movement and energy across the canvas.
The title, ""Song of the Rainbow in Blue,"" suggests a harmonious blend of diverse elements, much like the various colors of a rainbow coming together to create a unified spectrum against the blue sky. This piece, with its playful yet deliberate arrangement of colors and shapes, could be interpreted as a visual representation of harmony amidst diversity. It reflects the artist's interest in exploring how different elements can coexist and complement each other, much like the cultural and spiritual diversity that defines her homeland, Indonesia. The abstract nature of the piece allows for multiple interpretations, inviting viewers to engage with the artwork on a personal level.
“Pegon Arabic or sometimes called Jawi (in the Malay region) are letters derived from Arabic writing (which came together with Islamic beliefs) which were then transformed and used for local languages. This needs to be understood because it shows the existence of creative, adaptive abilities and appreciation for cultural diversity.; which is basically a characteristic of culture in Java or the archipelago in general. This has inspired me to make works using Arab Pegon in visual works both in the form of paintings, installations and objects.”
