As a descendant of Chinese immigrants in Indonesia, I often wonder how my ancestors would see the new story that began with their migration. Over generations, their culture gradually mixed with local culture through assimilation, while parts of their history, traditions, and memories slowly faded.

This work is made from Tyvek paper, referencing the ritual of burning ghost paper as a way of sending messages and offerings to ancestors. Through this work, I imagine sending a story back to them; the story of how blue-and-white porcelain became associated with Chinese identity, while their descendants have gradually become disconnected from the culture they inherited."""
