This work responds to the current condition of Indonesia—a situation that is, indeed, far from fine.

The tangled cables dominating the upper section of the work visualize the disorder of the economy and the overlapping, often contradictory policies of the state. Rather than providing solutions, these policies only add to the pressure placed on people at the bottom.

These structural and economic pressures push citizens into conflict with one another. The two figures fighting represent the reality of horizontal conflict at the grassroots level. Economic hardship makes communities increasingly vulnerable to friction, while such conflicts can also function as a distraction from the failures and responsibilities of those in power.

As an antithesis to this chaos, the group of people sitting together in a circle at the bottom of the composition becomes a manifestation of Self-Restraint. They represent sanity, solidarity, and the choice to restrain the ego amid worsening conditions. Sitting together, engaging in dialogue, and looking after one another become forms of resistance against forces that seek to divide.

Ultimately, the work delivers a simple and direct statement: when policies fail and the state abandons its responsibility, people are left to rely on one another to survive."
