Yunita Rebekah’s recent works are a celebration of wonder, tenderness, and growth; both in nature and in artistic practice. With oil pastel on board, Yunita builds rich textures and vibrant hues that echo her long-standing affection for children’s illustration and the joyful immediacy of landscapes. These are not merely visual compositions but windows into a world that values color as a language of optimism.
Each piece—""Pink,"" ""Ruang Angkasa,"" and ""Tanaman Liar Parkiran""—asks us to pause and appreciate overlooked details: a blooming flowerbed, a solitary tree branching into an open sky, or the quiet resilience of weeds sprouting in urban corners. There’s an endearing sincerity in how she renders these scenes, with a childlike sense of curiosity and gentle respect for her subjects.
Yunita is also an art educator, and this spirit of nurturing is embedded in her works. Her drawings speak not only to what she sees but to what she hopes others, especially children, might learn to see: the color in everyday life, the joy in small things, and the comfort in nature's quiet persistence. Having witnessed Yunita’s artistic evolution firsthand, it’s deeply moving to see how her visual language has shifted. From once working in darker, more abstract portraiture, her journey has taken her toward forms that feel lighter, more open, and full of breath. It’s a journey that reflects personal growth as much as artistic intention; a reminder that gentleness, like strength, is something that must be cultivated over time.
