Zikry Rediansyah approaches proximity through social interaction and participation. His practice spans paintings,
performance, object arrangement, and collaborative art-making, inviting audiences to engage in processes that challenge
conventional hierarchies between artist and viewer. His works are often playful, utilizing found objects, exchanges, and
improvisation to create meaning in real time. He gives us characters “Alex” and his girlfriend who try—really try—to exist
meaningfully in their spaces. But the more they try, the more absurd it becomes. They miscommunicate, hesitate, move
forward only to end up right back where they started. They are us, wandering through life, pretending we know what we
are doing. In a shared environment, proximity whether it is between Zikry’s characters or us is not just a condition but an
active process—one that requires engagement, negotiation, and sometimes facing this absurd life.
