Youth on Fire is a self-portrait that captures the burning energy and idealism of youth. Carved from a naturally shaped stone sourced from Pacitan, East Java, the sculpture features the artist's head with strands of hair inscribed with words and phrases—representing ideas of freedom, equality, and hard work. A bird is carved into the back of the figure, serving as a symbol of liberation. Responding to the existing form of the stone, Budi allows the material's raw shape to guide the sculpture’s form, highlighting a dialogue between intention and nature. The work stands as a tribute to youthful passion, bold thinking, and the restless pursuit of change.
