"Buoy is a part of a series of Korean Haenyeo paintings ,a reference to my maternal Korean Heritage, but also a feminine connection to the Sea and Western Art Historical reference to Botticelli and Venus. In many of these paintings, the act of painting plays such a huge part. The repetition of mark making in the netting and the ropes around the buoy ends up serving as a form to reinforce a repetition of life and, with the sea, its primordial connection.
