"The modern era, marked by its relentless influence on the course of time, has transformed art into something original and authentic that has faded away. In the eyes of Walter Benjamin, art has lost its aura. Modern art is not merely aesthetic; it also carries political and economic dimensions, turning art into a commodity. In this context, even when art loses its aura, it can still be appreciated, standing without the crutch of original context in the work, because art is born with the weight of ideas about beauty imbued with artistic nuances, allowing it to stand independently without having to rely on original context.
We are aware that art is not confined to paintings by Vincent van Gogh, Leonardo da Vinci, or Pablo Picasso. Art is not limited to the architectural marvels of Antoni Gaudi or the musical compositions of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. At least, that's how Marcel Duchamp sees it. One of Duchamp's most famous works is not a painting or sculpture, but a urinal for men. He named this work ""Fountain,"" and it was displayed at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the largest modern art museum in Europe. What makes this urinal so special? Duchamp created the Fountain in 1917 and submitted it to the Society of Independent Artists' exhibition at the Grand Central Palace in New York. Duchamp presented the object lying down and signed it ""R. Mutt"" to obscure his identity."
