Ines Katamso Indonesian French, b. 1990
Ines’s current practice revolves around the idea of life’s structure, inspired by biology, astrobiology, and quantum physics. In her artwork 'Synthetis 2', Ines grafts and combines different raw-cotton canvases together, in exploration and inquisition towards 'the matter', with the canvas as the matter. The technique also reflects the process of molecule bonding that perpetually happens in every part and scale of life. Just steers away from compartmentalizing her identity as either Indonesian or French, she would also like for her artworks to not be labeled; blurring the line between painting, sculpture, drawing, craft, and art.
