Selene is a Greek Goddess who embodies the Moon and is also a symbol of power. Selene has the power to give sleep and to light the night. She has control over time, and like the moon itself, she is ever-changing. Though one of the stories that are latched to her myth is her love for a mortal named Endymion, Selene is more of a symbol of light in a battlefield.
In this work, still depicting a chandelier, she tries to visualize a tale of where a woman is the adored heroine and having full control of her world-the perfect gleaming world that is actually a battlefield. She chooses to ignore the warnings and continues to fight for her love, and most importantly, for herself.
